Cream filled Chocolate cookies
Valentine’s day special and a great snack any day!
Cream filled chocolate cookies is an addition to my list of quick and easy dessert recipes with cookies as a base. I baked a big batch of cookies (some with m&ms too!) and filled a dozen with cream. While Sathya enjoyed the cream filled ones, I relished just the chocolate cookie which by itself was a great treat!
Since I always try to...
Molten Lava Cupcake – Updated recipe
Updated recipe: Feb 13, 2015
This is an updated recipe and post. I mentioned in my post dated 2 years back that My cake did not burst with chocolate lava when cut open like shown in the original recipe which I followed but the ones I baked had a gooey center. I didn’t bother much as the cakes were moist and tasty. But the updated recipe had that fancy part I wished for: chocolate flowing out like lava.

Tres Leches, A Mexican dessert
Tres Leches, meaning three milks in Spanish. Basically a sponge cake is soaked in a mixture of three milks and topped with freshly whipped cream. The cake is extremely dense and moist due to soaking the cake in rich ingredients like whole milk, evaporated milk and condensed milk combined together.
We tried this delicacy from Whole foods, yum! Immediately it hit the list of “must try at home”. Few things I was confident about this recipe was...
Flan
Flan is a rich, traditional Spanish dessert. Two types of canned milk, eggs and vanilla are enough to make this creamy and smooth dessert. The sugar-syrup topping drenches it perfectly when carefully flipped to the serving plate. I served mine with a Belgium chocolate on top.
Every time we go to any Mexican restaurant, Flan used to be great end of the meal. Initially I was a bit skeptical about making it. The fear of over powering egg taste (result of bad...

Sakkarai Pongal | Chakkarai Pongal
Sakkarai pongal, Another authentic south-Indian sweet. As i mentioned in my earlier post, Ven pongal, since the Pongal festival is right around the corner (Jan 14), we thought this would be the best time to post this recipe too which is a must on Pongal.
Traditionally, rice and lentil (dhal) is cooked by simmering in the milk and stirring very often. This recipe is using a pressure cooker. Making the sakkara pongal in the pressure cooker is indeed a great...

Banana Bread
You’re into a recipe that you can make with one bowl, and feed a dozen.
I’ve made several banana bread recipes and I always come back to this recipe posted in “simplyrecipes” by Elise, original recipe of Mrs.Hockmeyer. It is a wonderful standard recipe that you can build upon and customize to your liking. The banana bread turned out super moist with loads of banana flavor, the loaf was gone so fast! So we get extra banana’s and...

Nan Khatai, Indian Shortbread
While Sathya and i were enjoying our evening cup of tea, I was reminded of my favorite Indian biscuit – “Nan Khatai”. I simply craved to have some. Butter Cookies that are available in this part of the world are kind of a substitute but the idea of making the traditional one, also freshly baked and no eggs.. What more could be exciting than this!
The classic nan khatai has an...
