Aloo Tikki

Aloo Tikki is a very popular North Indian street food which is easy and quick snack to make at home. It is made  potatoes, peas, cilantro and few spices. The Aloo Tikki is a base for chaat recipes like Aloo Tikki chaat and Mumbai’s very own Ragda pattis

An easy Indian Appetizer and great as weekend evening snacks with hot tea.

Source: Such simple recipes, credits obviously to Amma, who loves to replicate restaurant style at home. (Ah! I remember those days of cooking with her wearing pretty apron stitched by her )

Ingredients:

2 Big boiled potato, peeled and mashed

1/2 cup boiled peas

1.5 tbsp finely chopped coriander/cilantro

2 green chilies, finely chopped

1/4 tsp chilli powder (for color & taste)

1 tsp lemon juice

1/4 tsp roasted cumin powder

1/2 tsp chat masala

Salt to taste

1/4 cup Bread crumbs for coating

Oil to drizzle while cooking potatoes

Aloo tikki preparation:

In a mixing bowl, add all the ingredients except the bread crumbs and oil. Combine well.

Divide the mixture into equal parts. Shape each portion into a smooth round and gently flatten to form the tikki shape.

Spread the bread crumbs on a flat plate and gently roll the tikki to coat completely.

On medium heat, on a non stick pan, fry the tikki by drizzling a little oil till both sides are light brown in color.

Serve hot with Mint-yogurt or tamarind chutney.

Happy cooking

    • No, but sounds good. I haven’t used for this recipe but i have used crushed oats for making the patties for black bean burger and they come out perfect every time!
