This drink is a rich, popular Indian beverage with fresh mango, milk, yogurt, and sugar. The consistency is like a cross between a mango smoothie and a milk shake. I use canned mango pulp when mangoes aren’t available. Also, canned mango pulp doesn’t restrict this absolute awesomeness only in summer, when mangoes are available.
Reminds me of the summers when we were young and my mother used to make it often and keep it chilled for us after we come from play!
Its so simple and cost efficient when made at home. The best part when you make it at home, you know the quality of the things that go in and most of all.. you have made it all by yourself!
Attention: Addictive and quite filling
Very few and simple ingredients:
Serves 4-5
1 cup thick yogurt
1 cup milk
1 and 1/2 cup mango pulp
1/4 cup of ripe mango chunks (when mangoes are in season)
Sugar- to taste.
Salt- A pinch
1/8 tsp Cardamom powder (optional)
For garnishing: fresh whipped cream and few mint leaves
Method:
Put all the ingredients except the fine chunks of mango into a blender and blend for 2 minutes, then pour into individual glasses and add the chunks of mango
I top the lassi with some leftover mango pulp
Garnish with fresh cream and a mint leaf and keep refrigerated until served.
Tips:
Let the ingredients like yogurt, milk and mango pulp be cold, Using ice to make it cool will dilute the drink
The canned mango pulp are generally sweet so caution when adding sugar
If you are using fresh mangoes, The non-fibrous one work better
