Bhel Puri

Bhel Puri, One of the Iconic snack of Maharashtra that became so popular and favorite that it is the most commonly sold chaat in the streets of India.

It is a mix of crunchy Sev, papadis, puffed rice with freshly chopped onions, tomatoes, boiled potatoes and mix of chutneys, which is quick and easy to make at home too.

Every family and bhelwala have their own proportions and inimitable blend of the chutneys.

Two things to keep in mind: To use only fresh ingredients and can be easily adjusted to your personal preferences!

A great evening snack perfect for any weather.

 

Ingredients you will need:

2 cups of Puffed rice (Pori, Muramure, Muri)
1 cup of Nylon Sev (Oma-podi)
1/2 cup of coarsely crushed papdi
2 tbsp of Dates-tamarind (Imli-kajur) chutney and 1 tbsp Green (Hara) chutney, Adjust to taste.
2 tbsp of each – chopped tomatoes, boiled potatoes and red onions
1 tbsp and 1 tsp- Finely Chopped Cilantro/coriander leaves
Salt & lemon Juice- To taste

Puffed rice, Nylon Sev and Papdi is available in any Indian Store. A pack of these three ingredients is also available. The chutneys are also available in Indian Stores but taste better when freshly made at home. Recipe for the chutneys, click here.

Bhel Puri Preparation:

In a Large bowl, Mix Puffed rice, half cup Sev and Papdi.

Add 2 tbsp of chopped tomatoes, boiled potatoes, onions and 1 tbsp of cilantro leaves.

 

Mix the two chutneys well.

 

Add the mixed chutneys, salt and lemon juice to the mixture and toss well. Garnish with remaining Sev and 1 tsp cilantro/coriander leaves.

 

Sever Immediately.
